General Information
Lying in Nakhon Sri Thammarat Province, Khao Nan National Park is a part of Krung Ching Sub-district, Noppitam Sub-district and Talingchun Sub-district, Thasalar District, and Khaonoi Sub-district, Theparat Sub-district and Plian Sub-district, Sichol District. The park consists of high mountain ranges and productive rainforest which is the source of the important rivers in the Province. There are valuable floras and wonderful natures such as Nam Tok Sunanta (Nam Tok Khao Nan), Nam Tok Krungnang, Nam Tok Klongpean,Nam Tok Kradai and Krungnang Cave etc. The park is 436 square kilometers.
The Park consists of complicated mountain range along north and south. The important mountains are, for examples, Khao Nan Yai, Khao Nan Mia, Khao Lek and Khao Chong Lom. Khao Nan Yai which is about 1,438 meters above sea level is the highest. The park is a part of Nakhon Sri Thammarat Mountain Range. Most of the area is productive rainforest which is the main source of the river in the area, and the habitat of many kinds of wide life, and valuable floras. There also is the rich source of minerals, for examples, tin, barite and
wolfram.
Climate
Most of the area consists of productive rainforest which causes high humidity in the air and heavy continuous rain so that the weather in this area is rather cold all the year
round.
Flora and Fauna
90% of the area is productive rainforest which has many valuable plants such as Yang, Malacca Teak, iron wood, thingan, Heritiera sumatrana Kosterm and wild champak for example. More over, there is a special plant called Elaleriospermum tapos B1its fruit is expensive and popular for eating, which grow together in a large cluster. The Elaleriospermum tapos B1 is rarely found growing in cluster, so its cluster in this area may have been the important supply of its seed. There also are a large number of animals, for example mountain goat, tapir, barking deer, wild boar, mouse deer, palm civet, civet and many kinds of bird, reptile and
amphibian.
Sunantha Waterfall
The waterfall consists of seven levels, each of which has differently natural beauties. Especially at level one which is high about 80 meters. It locates in Pakjao Village, Talingchan Sub-district, Thasalar District, Nakhon Sri Thammarat Province, and 15 kilometers from 110 Kilometer Stone on national road number 4041. There is a tarmac road extended to the
waterfall.
Krung Nang Waterfall
The waterfall locates in Suanprang Village, Krungching Sub-district, Thasalar District, Nakhon Sri Thammarat Province. Travel on foot 5 km. from Suanprang
Village.
Khlong-Ta-Leak Waterfall
The waterfall consists of seven levels, each of which has different name, for examples, Hnanaret, Hnanchangtok, and Hnantoui. The important feature of the waterfall is deep pond and stream which has beautiful rocks and boulders
surrounded.
Khlong Phian Waterfall
Khlong Phian Waterfall or Yang Daeng Waterfall, There is wonderful stream which has big rocks and boulders everywhere. Traveler can travel on three-level side
walk.
Khlong Prao Waterfall
This is a very beautiful waterfall. The water flows along the small steps of wonderful rocks to become the source of Klongguy
(Guy Channel).
Nang Chong Fa Waterfall
Consists of seven levels, the waterfall is a very beautiful waterfall in Khao Nan National Park. Travelers have to travel on foot only. If travelers want to see all of seven levels, they may take overnight trip
there.
Khao Dai Waterfall
It is a very beautiful waterfall that travelers have to travel on foot to get
there.
Hong Cave
Consisting of many strange-looking stalagmites and stalactites, it is a cave that has stream runs through it. The special thing of the cave is that it consists of more than five level of waterfall inside. Travelers have to walk through water all the way. Many bats also inhabit there. The cave is well appropriate for studying the source of
rock.
Lode Cave
The unique feature of this cave is that there is a big stream runs through all the year round. The entrance of the cave looks like a big mirror which is wonderful and strange. At the front of the cave lays a big stream and deep pond fitting for playing water. There is a limestone cave which has no water called Hang Cave
(Dry Cave) nearby.
Krung Nang Cave
The cave is four kilometers from Krung Nang Waterfall. It has beautiful stalagmites and stalactites. Many bats also inhabit
there.
Sunantha Viewpoint
It is the view point for watching for the sun rises from the Gulf of Thailand and enjoying the lights from fishing boats glittering like stars at
night.
Khao Nan Mountain Trekking Trail
It is the go-on-foot traveling for studying nature of the productive forest on Khao Nan Mountain which is 1,438 meters above sea level. Traveler will find the productive forest and many kinds of animal. At the top of the mountain cover by moss and fern, and has strange-looking plants. The weather is cold and has much humidity all the year
round.
Bua Chak Yai Nature Trail
It is the road that traveler can find the beautiful nature of Bua Chak Yai, which is the primeval fern aged about 230 million years. It is normally found at 1,000 meters above sea level but it is found at only 300 meters above sea level here. More over, there also are varieties of plants along the road such as

Elaleriospermum Tapos Forest Nature Trail
There is a cluster of Elaleriospermum tapos about 6.4 - 8.0 square kilometers. On February to April, the Elaleriospermum Tapos will give its new red leaves contrasted with the old leaves very beautifully. Its fruit can also be cooked in many kinds of
food.

Travel from Bangkok to Surat Thani Province, use national road number 401 to Kanchanadit District and Dogsak District leading to Nakhon Sri Thammarat Province, passing Khanom District and Sichol District until arrive at Ban Kali Junction, Thasalar District, 110 kilometer stone, turn right 15 kilometers to Pakjao Village and to Khao Nan National Park.
