PHA NAM YOI ABORETUM ผาน้ำย้อย The park is located in the northeast of Amphoe Nong Phok township. One can take a bus along Roi Et-Amphoe Phon Tong-Amphoe Nong Phok Road totalling a distance of 62 kilometers from Roi Et township. Pha Nam Yoi is a large stone cliff having running water and small springs coming out from the cliff all year round. Its location is on Phu Khao Khieo, Ban Khok Klang, Tambon Khok Sawang having an approximate forest area of 20,000 rai surrounding the cliff. There are various kinds of hard wood in the forest which is regarded a valuable and exquisite one. It is also the habitat of several kinds of animals such as wild boar, barking deer, deer, wild cock and hen. There is a monastery built on this hill occupying an area of 2,500 rai. There is a very large multi purpose pavillion (Sala kan prian) on the hill shelf having the width of 40 meters and the length of 80 meters. The name of this monastery is "Wat Pha Nam Thip Thep Prasit Wanaram" . Phra Achan Si Mahawiro, a follower of Phra Achan Man Phurithatto arranged to have it built. In addition, there is a special construction of a pagoda named " Phra Maha Chedi Chaimongkon" which is the biggest pagoda is Thailand having a width of 101 meters, a height of 101 meters and it was in the area of 101 rai. |
