General Information Phnom Sawai Forest Park located in Bua Sub-district, Muang District and Chue Plerng Sub-district, Prasart District, Surin province, situated in Pah Khao Sawai National Reserved Forest where was declared a national reserved forest according to the ministerial regulations, issue 555 (1973), cover the area of approximately 2,475 rais. The Royal Forest Department declared this forest park on June 22, 1984.
Topography It is consisted of 2 mountains connected to each other where is called Phnom Sawai. Most of the forest area slopes down eastward from the mountain. Its western part is fairly sloped. The area is rock mountain where is sloping away from the mountain below. Some eastern parts of it have been conducted the rock explosion. There are 2 reservoirs located in the north and south. In addition, there is one small dam.
Climate Climate pattern in Pah Phnom Sawai can be divided into 3 seasons. Rainy season started from June to November, Winter started from December to February and Summer started from March to May.
Flora and Fauna Generally, its the Dry Deciduous Dipterocarp Forest where is not too crowded with trees. Small and under grown trees as well as some average trees found. Flora recorded consists of Shorea obtusa, Shorea siamensis, Cratoxylum sp., KRAD, Xylia xylocarpa, yellow cassia, emblic myrabolan, KWAW, and so on.
Fauna recorded consists of squirrel, wild rabbit, Malayan flying lemur, and some bird species for example kingfisher, partridge, white-breasted waterhen, coucal, white-rumped shama, spotted dove, grebe and kite.

transportation.

How to go? By Car You can drive from the town of Surin by taking the Surin-Prasart route, about 14 kms long and 6 kms on the hard-rough rouge road. Hence, totally distance from Muang District to Phnom Sawai Forest Park is about 20 kms.
