Phra Thaen Dong Rang Forest Park
General Information
Pratan Dongrung National Park is located in Pratan Dongrung National Reserved Forest, Village No 10, Pratan Sub-district, Thamaka District, Kanchanaburi Province. It is 1,344 Rais (2.15 square kilometers) and has been declared a forest park by The Royal Forest Department since October 28, 1982.
Topography
Consisting of plain area and small hill, Pratan Dongrung Forest Park is located 0-20 meters at mean sea level, surrounded by paddy field and agriculture
area.
Climate
The weather in the area has three seasons, such as, rainy season which has only about 300-500 mm of rain, winter which is short period and not very cold, summer which is hot, the highest temperature is about 38 degrees
Celsius.
Flora and Fauna
Most of the area consist of deciduous forest and mixed deciduous forest, and have about 100 kinds of plant spreading everywhere. The plants are Shorea siamemis, ma khaa tae, Rubiaceae (Hyminodictylon, Indian Mulberry), Careya sphaerica Roxb, Siamese sal, Lagerstroemia, herbs, for
example.
Animals found are edible ground lizard, insect and many kinds of bird.
Tourist Attractions
Pratan Dongrung Forest is productive. It is the last forest of Tharmarka District. Pratan Dongrung Forest has a convenient way to visit, located near community and been important to history, archeology and literary. There are two important hills; the first is called Khao Tarwai Prapluang consisting of the peak 55 meters high, and has a 12-Edge Mondhop covered the model of footprint of Lord Buddha; the second has a square and slope rock plate similar to pedestal or
bed.

By Car
Use national road number 3081 to get through the middle of the Pratan Dongrung Forest Park. It locates about 9 kilometers from Tar-Riar Market (Pier Market), Tharmarka District, Kanchanaburi Province.
