Ku Mahathat (Prang Ku Ban Kwao) กู่มหาธาตุหรือปรางค์กู่บ้านขวา It is situated at Ban Kwao, Tambon Kwao, Amphoe Muang, 13 kilometers along Jaeng Sanit road from township area. It is an archaeological site having construction age of over 700 years ago. It was built of sand stone in the shape of a square tent having the height from the ground to the peak of eight meters, and the width of five meters. In the sanctuary there are two earthenware idols in the attitude of sitting crossed-leg holding conch shell in between the two palms placing against each other at the chest level. It is surrounded by the cloister having the single entrance in the east and the Bannalai is situated in the southeast corner. There is only entrance into the main Prang and it is located in the east too while the others on the rest of the three directions are false doors. Frames and lintels are made of sand stone and the Fine Arts Department has finished the excavation already. |
