General Information
Ko Sum Pii Forest Park located in Moo 1, Hua Khwang Sub-district, Kosum Pisai District, Maha Sarkham Province, covered the area of 125 rais. The Royal Forest Department declared this Forest Park on October 1, 1966.
Topography
The Nong Bung Forest is the evergreen forest characterized the plain nearby the Chii River bank, located in the Kosum Pisai Sanitation District. Within this 3 rai-natural pond filled with water approx. 1-1.50 metres depth. Southern Nong Bung Forest connected to street nearby Ming Muang Venerable Mondhob and Klang Kosun Pisai Temple. This southern part consisted of primitive moist evergreen forest, covered the area of 60 rais. Its western part stretched to Lam Chii Long, covered the area of 45 rais
approximately.
Flora and Fauna
There are many flora species found. Most of them are chaulmoogra, Dipterocarpus sp., wild rose apple, wild black plum, bastard teak and Cereya sphaerica (KRADOD). Lower trees consist of Derris scandens, Calamus sp., rattan, Saprosma sp., TOD TAKUA, garcinia, Rauwenhoffia siamensis, Randia sp., KAD KAO and bamboo. Besides, there are rain trees planted by local people as well. Furthermore, various economic trees are found here such as Afzelia siamensis, iron wood, Lagerstroemi cochinchinensis, and so on.
Important existing fauna consists of 500 moneys divided into 2 herds, Oriental magpie robin, starling, magpie, white-vented myna, streak-eared bulbul, red-whiskered bulbul, long-tailed shrike and common
tailorbird.
Nong Bung Forest
Nong Bung Forest is evergreen forest where the holy spirit house highly respected by villagers existed. In addition, Nong Bung Forest is one of the nearest forest to village. Many rhesus macaques that are similarly to monkey species at Lop Buri Provinces Phra Karn Spirit House are living here. Hence, the Royal Forest Department decided to do the area survey and declared a forest park aiming to conserve the natural resources for studying and to establish recreation area for general
public.

How to go?
By Car
The most convenient road to Ko Sum Pii Forest Park is Highway no. 208, Maha Sarakham to Tah Phra Sub-district, Muang District, Khon Khaen, to Ko Sum Pii Forest Park, Kosum Pisai District, Maha Sarakham. The distance is about 28 kms long. Or you can take the road from Tah Pra Sub-district, Mung District, Khon Khaen Province to the forest park which will take about 28 kms as well.
