Mongkhon Standing Buddha พระพุทธรูปยืนมงคล
This Buddha image is as old as Muang Maha Sarakham, located at Tambon Khanthararat, Amphoe
Kantharawichai along Highway No.213, 14 kilometers from toenship area (on the right side). It is a Buddha
image of Dvaravati period made of red sand stone as same as Ming Muang Buddha image. It has been
said that the two Buddha images were made at the same time when there was a drought in the area of
Amphoe Kantharawichai, the man arranged to make Ming Muang Buddha image while the woman arranged
to make Mongkhon Standing Buddha. There was a great celebration of the two imgaes after completion.
However, there have been regular rainy season causing perfect cultivaions in the area since then.
