Sao Ronghai เสาร้องไห้ is a big wooden pillar situated at Maenang Takhian Shrine it Wat Sung, Tambon Saohai, 500 meters from Salhai District Office. It is highly respected by many people who believe that there is a goddess dwelling in the Pillar. All offerings to the pillar are theng for a landy. There is a story about it. When Bangkok was being constructed as the capital, notices were sent to many provinces, informing them to select the finest wooden pillar suitable for being the principal one. Saraburi sent a beautiful Takhian Thong wooden pillar to bangkok by Floating it along the Pasak River, but unfortunately in arrived too late for the selection, however, it was selected as the second to the principal one. It was expected that if this Pillar had arrived time it would have been selected as the principal one. Therefore this pillar was very sad floating upstream from Bangkok and sank at Tambon Saohai for over 100 years. At night people heard its crying In 1958 the pillar as pulled up from the water and shrined in Wat Sung. There is an annual celebration held on 23 April. In addition, inside the shrine there is a large stone bell found from the excavations at Amphoe Sithep in Phetchabun. The bell is hanging for people to ring since it is believed that to ring the bell is to offer merit to others. |
