Khao Luang Forest Park
General Information
Khao Luang Forest Park located in Wang Ma Sub-district, Lad Yao District, Nakorn Sawan Province and Uthai Thani Province, situated in Pah Khao Luang National Reserved Forest, covered the area of 59,375 rais. The Royal Forest Department declared this forest park on February 22, 1996.
Topography
Its high and sloped mountain, solo situated on the western plain of Nakorn Sawan province. Khao Luang Summit is the highest summit which is 772 metres above the average sea level. The second highest summit is Khao Khiew Summit which is 762 metres above the average sea level. Generally, its limestoned mountain. The slope of most of the area is more than 35%. Forest on the mountain is abundant. Its where various animals live. Its the watershed area of Wang Ma Canal and Bang La Mung Canal in Nakorn Sawan
Province.
Flora and Fauna
The Mixed Deciduous Forest: its clear forest mixed with deciduous forest. There are small and average-size of trees. Bamboo is crowded grown. Flora found consist of Spondias pinnata, Leguminosae genus, Bombax sp., Lagerstroemia sp., Xylia xylocarpa, Pterocarpus macrocarpus, and so
on.
The Dry Deciduous Dipterocarp Forest: found around the foothill area. Most of trees are small species. Grass covers the ground. Almost every year, there will be forest fire. Flora found consist of Shorea obtusa, Shorea siamensis, Pterocarpus macrocarpus, Dipterocarpus tuberculatus, Dipterocarpus obtusifolius, Sindora siamensis, Thyrsostachys siamemsis,
etc.
The Dry Evergreen Forest: found on top of mountain, valley and crowded forest consisted of vines, rattan and orchid. Flora recorded are Hopea Odorata, Dipterocarpus sp., Baccaurea sp., Myrsinacae sp., SOMPONG, Lagerstroemia sp., Chukrasia
venlutina, etc.
Khao Luang Summit
Khao Luang Summit is 772 metres, highest above the average sea level. Weather is cool and fine up there and can be very cold in the winter. There is beautiful view point as well as gold well, water cave and
spring.
Boh Ya Cave
Boh Ya is complicated big cave. The northern Khao Luang is the location of Tham Boh Ya
Temple.
Khao Phra Cave
Khao Phra Cave is a small cave where is naturally beautiful.

How to go?
By Car
From Nakorn Sawan, you can take the Highway no. 1 (Nakorn Sawan-Kamphaeng Phet route) to Nong Ben Market which will take about 17 kms. Turn left and take the Highway no. 1072 (Lad Yao District route) to junction which will lead you to Sri Uthumporn Temple. Its about 5 kms. After that turn left to Sri Uthumporn Temple. Its about 7 kms from the temple, you will arrive Khao Luang Forest Park. Therefore, totally distance from Nakorn Sawan town to Khao Luang Forest Park is about 29 kms
long.
